Lemons play a big part in Amalfi’s traditions and history.

Since the XI century the yellow of the sfusato lemon has featured in the landscape of the Amalfi coast. In this period lemon groves first appeared and were later called “gardens”, for their beauty. They were also very useful for protecting the land from weather risks.

From the 1400s, the little town of Minori began trading this excellent citrus fruit with the most famous Italian and European ports, encouraging the development of new lemon groves.
The limon amalphitanus, later called sfusato amalfitano, started its unstoppable rise, becoming soon known and appreciated also in America.
